The silk felt lighter than I remembered. I pulled it gently, knotting it once, then twice, the way she showed me, loop and tuck, loop and sigh. I went to the market today—not because I needed anything, but because I wanted to lose myself for a while. There’s something grounding about the ritual of it—the hum of conversation, the weight of the morning air, the slow pull of curiosity that always seems to lead me to the silk stall. I never mean to stop, but the colors catch my eye, and before I know it, my fingers are skimming over smooth folds of fabric, tracing embroidery, letting the texture decide if it wants to be mine.

I found one. A scarf in the richest shade of deep green, the kind that makes you think of hidden courtyards and old stories. I wasn’t planning on buying anything, but the moment I touched it, I knew it was coming home with me. Some things don’t need to be justified—they just belong.

It’s draped over the back of my chair now, catching the last bit of afternoon light. I don’t know when I’ll wear it, but I like knowing it’s there, waiting for the right moment.
